About This Call
Axis Gallery invites submissions for Con Cariño/With Tenderness, an exhibition celebrating platonic intimacy, touch, and tenderness. The gallery seeks work that thoughtfully explores caring and togetherness, asking how we bring people together, celebrate those around us, and reiterate our need for intimacy in social and public spaces.
Open to U.S. artists. Contemporary original 2D and 3D work in any medium including painting, print, drawings, video, photography, or digital images is accepted. 2D work should not exceed 48" in the longest dimension when framed. 3D work is limited to 36" and not more than 60 lbs. Video work must be 5 minutes or shorter and will be rotated on a 60" monitor in the gallery, or artists may provide and install their own equipment (monitors no larger than 30" diagonal). All work must be original, produced within the last two years, and not previously shown at Axis Gallery. Work with complex installations or video will be included at the juror's discretion.
Entry fee is $35 for three images/videos, with additional entries at $10 each (limit 6 total submissions; videos limited to 3). Submit JPEG and video files according to CaFÉ guidelines. Work must arrive by July 31 or be hand-delivered August 1-2. The exhibition opens August 7 with a Second Saturday Reception on August 8 at 6 pm and closes August 30. Juror is Marcela Pardo Ariza, a visual artist and curator. Awards include cash prizes and a printed exhibition catalog. The gallery retains 40% commission on sales. Work will be insured at the gallery but not in transit. For questions, contact [email protected].
