About This Call

AVA's 22nd Annual Art Matters Exhibition is a juried exhibition and gala fundraiser featuring forty-five (45) individual artworks in live and silent auctions. The exhibition runs from January 2-31, 2024. Awards include Best In Show ($7,000), Second Place ($1,500), Third Place ($500), and three People's Choice awards ($100 each) selected by public vote during the Artists' Reception.

Eligible submissions include 2D and 3D original artwork in any medium. The entry fee is $35.00 for up to three artworks. Artwork dimensions are restricted to 48 inches in any direction, inclusive of matting and framing. Work must be original and not previously shown at an AVA event or created over 2 years ago. Ineligible work includes celebrity portraits, fan art, giclee prints, artwork from tutorials, direct copies, and work infringing on copyright. Each submission requires at least one high-resolution digital image in JPEG, PNG, GIF, or TIFF format (maximum 2400 pixels), labeled as Artist Name/Title/Size.

Accepted artwork must be delivered to AVA between December 12-23, 2023, and must remain at the venue through January 31, 2024. All work must be finished and display-ready with professional framing, acid-free matting, and securely attached hanging wire. Artists set their own fair market and reserve values and choose a commission split of either 50% or 75% to AVA, or 100% donation (which includes two gala admission tickets valued at $250). Upon acceptance, artists must provide a biography and may include business cards or professional links. Unsold artwork must be picked up by February 10, 2024; return shipping is the artist's responsibility. Commission payments for sold work are distributed by February 5, 2024.
