About This Call
"Autonomous" is an exhibition exploring AI and generative art, inviting artists to push the boundaries of cutting-edge AI art. The exhibition features artworks that challenge traditional notions of art and technology, from digital paintings to sculptures, and aims to provoke debate around the question "is this art?" Artists must submit a 100-word description of their work explaining their process and how AI was used to ideate, augment, or create the piece.
The exhibition runs April 2–27, 2024. Entry fee is $25 for the first entry and $5 for each additional entry, with a maximum of 20 entries per artist. Artists may submit 1–20 images and up to 6 videos. Work must have been produced within the last five years and is open to amateur and professional artists worldwide. Content must be appropriate for all viewers. Work copied or done under instructor guidance is not eligible. Guest jurors are artists John Stringfellow and Val Gerischer. Awards include a Juror's Choice award of $1,000 for Best in Show and ten $50 awards of merit.
JPEGs are due by March 19, 2024. Acceptance notifications will be sent by March 20, 2024. Local drop-off is April 1, 2024; shipped work must arrive by March 30, 2024. The opening event is April 5, 2024, from 5–7pm. Unsold work can be picked up April 29, 2024, between 8am–noon, or will be shipped the week of April 29, 2024. All images must be in JPEG format, 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side, with a maximum file size of 5mb. Framed work must be fitted firmly with wire for hanging; gallery wrapped canvases are permitted. Artists are responsible for shipping costs and must provide pre-paid return labels. The Cultural Center charges a 30% commission on sales for members and 40% for non-members. The Center is not responsible for damage during shipping or handling; artists are strongly encouraged to insure their work.
