Clatsop Community College presents Au Naturel: the Nude in the 21st Century, a tenth anniversary international juried exhibition to be held January 21 - March 10, 2016. The competition is open to all artists working in two-dimensional drawing, painting, and printmaking media with a focus on the nude human figure as subject matter in any form ranging from representational to abstract, employing the handmade mark as the primary means of image-making. Photography is not eligible. Entrants must be 18 years or older, and submitted artwork must have been executed in the last three years and be available for the duration of the exhibit. Artwork reproduced by photomechanical processes, including giclée prints, will not be accepted.
The 2016 juror is Lisa Harris, Director and Owner of Lisa Harris Gallery in Seattle. Awards include $1000 in cash prizes, up to $2000 in purchase awards, a solo show feature for one artist in the following exhibition season, and a select number of Visiting Artist Workshop awards. The entry fee is $40 for one to three images, with an additional $5 per image beyond the third, up to a maximum of 15 images. Artwork must not exceed 6 feet x 10 feet and must weigh no more than 50 lbs uncrated. All accepted artwork must be framed or otherwise professionally presented with wires or hanging devices. Notification of acceptance will be by email by November 30th, 2015. Accepted work must arrive at the Art Center Gallery no later than January 8th, 2016. An artist reception will be held Thursday, January 28th, 2016 at 6:00 p.m., with a pre-opening gathering for artists at 5:00 p.m. The gallery will retain a 35% commission on all sales and will insure all artwork for the duration of the exhibit.
