About This Call
Clatsop Community College presents the eleventh annual international juried exhibition, Au Naturel: the Nude in the21st Century, held January 26 - March 16, 2017 in the Royal Nebeker Art Gallery in Astoria, Oregon.
This international juried competition is open to all artists working in two-dimensional drawing, painting, and printmaking media with a focus on the nude human figure as subject matter in any form ranging from representational to abstract, employing the handmade mark as the primary means of image-making. Photography is not eligible. Entrants must be 18 years or older. Artwork created under the supervision of an instructor is not eligible. Submitted artwork must have been executed in the last three years and must be available for the duration of the exhibit. Artwork reproduced by photomechanical processes, including giclée prints, will not be accepted. Maximum dimensions are 6 feet x 10 feet and must not weigh more than 50 lbs. uncrated. All accepted artwork must be framed or otherwise professionally presented with wires or hanging devices (no saw-tooth hangers).
Entry fee is $40 for one to three images, with $5 for each additional image beyond the third. Maximum of 15 images may be submitted. Submissions must be made online through CaFÉ by November 10, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Notification of acceptance will be emailed by November 30, 2016. Accepted work must arrive at the gallery no later than January 13, 2017. Artist reception is February 9, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. with a pre-opening gathering for artists at 5:00 p.m. Pick-up date for hand-delivered work is Friday, March 17, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. – 5 p.m. Shipped work will be returned with return label provided by the artist.
Awards include $1000 in cash prizes, up to $2000 in purchase awards, one solo show feature for the following exhibition season, and visiting artist workshop awards. The juror is Daniel Duford, Associate Professor of Art at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. The gallery will retain a 35% commission on all sales. All artwork will be insured for the duration of the exhibit. Sales price is determined by the artist; artwork may be designated as NFS (not for sale). If artwork is not picked up within 90 days of the close of the exhibit, it becomes the property of the CCC Royal Nebeker Art Gallery.
