About This Call
Gainesville Fine Arts Association invites submissions exploring the theme of wonder. Whether your work addresses specific places, rituals, attentiveness to daily life, or the sharing of stories, submissions should broadly explore ways in which you have experienced wonder. Any style, medium, or discipline will be considered; however, submitted work should be of the highest quality and address the theme by adding to an overall atmosphere of contemplation.
Submissions must include 4-8 images (detail images count toward the minimum of 4) and may include up to 8 videos. Entry fee is $35.00 plus a $5.00 media fee. Artists must be 18 or older. Only original works will be considered; no substitutes, reproductions, jewelry, or pottery will be accepted. All artwork must be ready to hang with proper hardware. Framed pieces that are shipped must use plexi; hand-delivered works may use glass. Artists shipping work must provide a return shipping label. Artworks should include a price or be marked NFS. GFAA retains a 30% commission on all works sold during the exhibition. Any work sold during the exhibition must remain on display until the end.
Jurors include Logan Marconi (Guest Curator, Gainesville, FL), Amory Abbott (Assistant Professor of Art, Emily Carr University, Vancouver, BC), Lauren Hill (Curatorial Assistant, UMLAUF Sculpture Garden and Museum, Austin, TX), and Katy Lemle (Gallery Director & Operations Manager, GFAA). Awards include three $1,000 Best In Show awards and two $500 merit awards. Artists will be notified April 18. Work delivery is May 18-22. Exhibition dates are May 26 - June 20, 2020, with opening reception May 29, 2020. For questions about the exhibit, email GFAA.
