At Midnight

Ashton Gallery @ Art on 30th, a contemporary art center and gallery in San Diego, California, invites regional and national artists to submit original works of art for the 2020 "At Midnight" exhibition. The theme explores midnight in all its forms: the magical moment when one day dies and another is born, the bewitching hour, the dark sacred night, the landscape drenched in silver moonlight, or the shelter of shadows. Any art that entices viewers to experience midnight from the artist's perspective is eligible, including work that uses midnight blue, moonlit silver, ghostly gray, or inky black.

Accepted mediums include acrylic, oils, watercolor, drawing, photography, assemblage, collage, encaustic, mixed media, fiber art, and 3D art that fits on an 18" x 18" pedestal. Minimum size is 10" and maximum size is 72". The exhibit does not accept jewelry, video, film, performance art, or installations. Submissions must be original work and all entries must be for sale. If a piece sells, Ashton Gallery receives 50% commission. Artists may submit up to 6 pieces. Entry fee is $35 for the first entry and $5 for each additional image.

The exhibition runs October 31 - November 28, 2020, opening on Halloween. Three awards and two honorable mentions will be given by juror Daniel Foster, with $1,000 awarded in total cash prizes. Best in Show will be featured on the catalog cover, and First Place and Juror's Choice will receive double page spreads. Selected works will be published in the Ashton Gallery Full Color Exhibition Catalog. Notification of results will be sent by email by September 28, 2020. All artwork must remain in the show until closing. Hand-delivered work is accepted September 28 - October 17 during business hours. Shipped work must be postmarked by October 9, 2020. Hand pickup of unsold artwork begins November 28, 2020, with unsold artwork shipping beginning December 7, 2020.
