Assistance League of Houston Celebrates Texas Art 2020

Assistance League of Houston invites original works by Texas-based artists for Celebrates Texas Art 2020, on view January 16 – March 14, 2020. The call for entry opens September 1, 2019, with an entry deadline of October 31, 2019. Artists may submit 1-4 entries at $15 per entry, plus $15 per additional image over the minimum. Juror: Cara Manes, Associate Curator, Museum of Modern Art, NYC. Cash awards: $4,000 First Place, $2,000 Second Place, $1,000 Third Place.

Eligibility: Entries must be original works completed within the last two years by artists residing in Texas, done without supervision. Works previously exhibited in Assistance League of Houston competitive exhibitions are not eligible. All work must be suitable for public and corporate settings; nudity, sexual suggestion, graphic violence, and disruptive audio are not permitted. All work submitted must be available for sale at the time of submission.

Accepted media include painting, photography, sculpture, and works on paper. Work dimensions must not exceed 72" height and 72" width. Sculpture must not exceed 5'x5' at the base and 8' high, weighing no more than 50 pounds. Wall hangings are limited to 40 pounds. Works requiring power must use battery power supplied by the artist. Works with audio must include an MP3 sound clip. Delivery to Assistance League of Houston is January 11, 2020, 10 a.m.–Noon. Opening and award presentations: January 16, 2020, 6 p.m.–8 p.m. Pick up work March 14, 2020, 10 a.m.–Noon at 601 Jefferson, Houston, TX. Notification of acceptance: November 27, 2019. Twenty percent of sales proceeds benefit Assistance League of Houston's philanthropic programs.
