Assistance League of Houston Celebrates Texas Art 2019

Assistance League of Houston invites original works by Texas-based artists for this juried exhibition running January 17 – March 15, 2019. The juror is Jennie Goldstein, Assistant Curator at the Whitney Museum of American Art, NYC. Cash awards include $4,000 First Place, $2,000 Second Place, and $1,000 Third Place.

Eligibility: Entries must be original works by artists residing in Texas, completed in the last two years, and not previously exhibited in Assistance League of Houston competitive exhibitions. Each artist may submit up to four entries. Entry fee is $15 per entry, with an additional $15 per image over the minimum. Submissions must include 1-4 images. All work must be available for sale at the time of submission.

Accepted media include painting, photography, sculpture, and works on paper. Work must not exceed 72" in height or width. Sculpture must not exceed 5'x5' at the base and 8' high, weighing no more than 50 pounds. Wall hangings are limited to 40 pounds. Work requiring power must use battery power supplied by the artist. Works with audio must include an MP3 sound clip. Entries must be suitable for public, corporate settings; nudity, sexual suggestion, graphic violence, and disruptive noises will not be exhibited. Delivery to Assistance League of Houston is January 12, 2019, 10 a.m.–Noon. Opening and award presentations are January 17, 2019, 6 p.m.–8 p.m. Work pickup is March 16, 2019, 10 a.m.–Noon at 601 Jefferson, Houston, TX. Twenty percent of sales proceeds benefit Assistance League of Houston's philanthropic programs.
