About This Call
The Aspen Art Museum invites artists from the local community, working in any medium, to apply for the 2019–20 Aspen Art Museum Artist Fellowship. Up to four artists will be selected to participate in this 9-month mentored professional development program running from September 2019 through May 2020.
Artist fellows meet approximately once a month for discussion with the fellowship group, as well as exchanges with visiting artists, museum professionals, curators, and AAM staff. Participants will have the opportunity to create a project in collaboration with museum staff which reflects their experience of learning from the museum and the fellowship. Recipients receive a $1,000 honorarium. Work created during the fellowship remains the property of the artist.
Eligibility: Applicants must reside in Pitkin, Eagle, Garfield, Mesa, Delta, Montrose, Gunnison, Lake, or Chafee counties. Artists working in any medium are eligible. Applicants should not be currently enrolled in a degree program at an institution of higher learning for the duration of the fellowship. Both established and emerging artists are welcome to apply. Applicants must show the ability to work independently and participate fully in the collaborative nature of the fellowship, demonstrate interest in expanding their studio practice, possess willingness to work collaboratively, have flexibility to attend monthly group meetings, and be able to travel to the Aspen Art Museum. There is no application fee. Application deadline: September 10, 2019, 11:59 pm. Notification: the week of September 23, 2019.
