About This Call

The Aspen Art Museum invites local area artists to apply for six available spots in the museum's 2022 Artist Fellowship. Now in its fourth year, the fellowship provides mentored professional development and support for artists working in the Roaring Fork Valley, including the communities of Rifle, Silt, New Castle, Glenwood Springs, Redstone, Marble, Carbondale, El Jebel, Basalt, Old Snowmass, Snowmass Village, and Aspen. Artists working in any medium and at any level (from emerging to established) are encouraged to apply.

Applications are accepted from February 1 through February 22, 2022, with final notification in the first week of March. Applicants must be 18 years of age at the beginning of the program on March 11 and commit to regularly scheduled monthly or bi-monthly meetings through November 2022. The nine-month fellowship includes conversations with visiting artists and curators, presentations by museum staff, and facilitated studio visits with cohort members. Participating artists will develop a creative project with input from museum staff and present their work at the end of the program through an artist talk, performance, demonstration, or other format. Each Artist Fellow receives an honorarium to help realize their project.

Eligibility requires residency in one of the specified Roaring Fork Valley communities, interest in collaborative work, and willingness to expand current studio practice. Application requirements include biographical information, resume or CV, references, questions about artistic practice, and work samples (1-8 images and/or 0-6 videos). The Aspen Art Museum retains rights to photograph and video record fellowship components. Work created during the fellowship remains the property of the artist.
