About This Call
The American Society of Midland Artists (ASMA) is accepting applications for Signature Membership and Fellowship status. Applicants must submit high-quality JPEG images of their artwork along with biographical information including education, awards, gallery representation, and art group affiliations.
Signature Membership applicants must submit 12 images representing their current body of work. Accepted non-members will be required to pay $100 annual dues. Signature Members receive the right to sign their works with the letters ASMA after their name, a Signature Gallery page on the ASMA website ($15 per year for three images), and a link to their personal website ($10 per year). Signature Members are required to submit at least one work for jury consideration to every ASMA National Exhibition, which take place approximately every four years. Failure to submit will result in loss of Signature Membership status.
Fellowship applicants must submit 20 images representing their current body of work. New Fellows are asked to actively engage in Fellowship activities, including the annual jury session held in spring (available online or in person). Fellows may be called upon to submit an article about their artistic techniques for publication in ASMA News and Journal, and must serve a three-year term on the Fellows Management Committee (first year as Deputy Managing Fellow, then Managing Fellow, then Post Managing Fellow). Fellow dues are $125 annually. Fellows are required to exhibit one painting or sculpture in National Exhibitions, which are mounted roughly every four years.
Accepted mediums include oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, colored pencil, pen and ink, graphite, sculpture, and scrimshaw. Photography, models, glass, fiber, ceramics, cold cast bronze, digital art, and other miscellaneous categories are not accepted. Artwork must have been created within the past 10 years. Sculptors must submit 2 views for each artwork. Images must be at least 1500 pixels on the longest edge with a maximum file size of 30 MB. Entry deadline is April 30, 2025. Entry fees are non-refundable. For questions, contact Stewart White at [email protected].
