ASLD Ceramics Apprentice Program

The Art Students League of Denver (ASLD) offers a yearlong Ceramics Apprenticeship for aspiring ceramists to receive one-on-one mentorship and build a sustainable career in ceramics. The apprenticeship is tailored to the applicant's experience level and is available to both hand-building and wheel-throwing ceramicists.

The apprenticeship provides education in operating a professional ceramics studio, developing an art business (website, social media, etc.), mentorship from ASLD Ceramics Studio Management team and faculty, participation in workshops and lectures, and the opportunity to show and sell work in ASLD's annual Summer Art Market. The 2024-2025 apprenticeship runs from September 16, 2024 through August 2025. From September 2024 through May 2025, the apprentice works approximately 10 hours per week in the studio and receives a monthly stipend of $750, plus studio access for personal work and firing. June through August 2025 is dedicated to developing and finishing work for the Summer Art Market (August 23-24, 2025). The apprentice has access to all ASLD courses at no cost (material fees and clay costs are the apprentice's responsibility). Room and board are the apprentice's responsibility.

Applicants must be 21+ years old and demonstrate strong work that complements ASLD's faculty. Priority is given to artists currently residing in Colorado. Application requires basic information, artist background and bio, description of artistic practice, 3-5 work sample images in JPEG format (300 DPI, 1920 x 1920), and a description of how the apprenticeship will support artistic growth. Entry fee is $15.00.
