Asking For It

We are curating an exhibit to bring awareness about patriarcy and internalized misogyny and would like to invite artists to submit work regarding this theme. As professors in a small art department, working closely with young people, many of whom are women, we were recently confronted with how internalized misogyny manifests itself in insidious ways. As artists, communicating about this topic through a curated group exhibition is timely and more pressing than ever in the current socio-political climate. The exhibit will include approximately 30-35 pieces. It will open at Radial Art Center in Omaha, NE in March 2026, then travel to Blue Cat Gallery & Studio in Wayne, NE during April-May 2026, and then to Tugboat Gallery in Lincoln, NE through the month of June. For this reason, we ask that the work be limited in size to no larger than 30 inches on any side, including frame, as we will transport pieces to other locations. Please submit up to three images for consideration by December 15 via the google doc link: https://forms.gle/S3dgD8itsM5WpfJ26 We will notify artists of inclusion by January 12, 2026. Accepted work should be shipped to or delivered in person to Blue Cat Gallery. Please note, other than getting the work to Blue Cat, there are no anticipated expenses the artist will incur for participation; however, artists may want to carry their own insurance for artwork that is included in the exhibition. Blue Cat will take care of shipping fees to return work at the end of the exhibition’s run.
