Arves E. Jones, Sr. Transit Center at Northgate Art Exhibition

Sun Metro in collaboration with the Museums and Cultural Affairs department seeks to establish a pool of artists or artist teams from the Greater El Paso area for consideration in upcoming exhibits for the new Arves E. Jones, Sr. Transit Center at Northgate. The exhibition will introduce artists to the community and provide them with valuable exposure and gallery space for temporary exhibitions. The exhibit space has an opportunity to display 10-15 pieces of work for a 12-month period. The designated space seeks to highlight El Paso as a diverse and cultural destination through high quality art and visual experiences.

Applicants must be an independent artist or artist team, 18 years of age and over, residing in the Greater El Paso area, which includes Las Cruces, New Mexico and Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. Submissions must include a letter of interest, current resume, and six images of completed artworks with title, dimensions, medium, year of completion, location, a three-sentence description, and value or budget amount for insurance purposes. Images must be formatted as JPEG or JPG only, 1200 pixels on the longest side, and under 5 MB in file size.

Selection of work is based foremost upon artistic excellence, with consideration given to geographic and cultural diversity, as well as variety of genres and media. Selected artists will be solely responsible for transportation of their work to and from the gallery space and any related costs. Artwork must be properly matted, wired, framed, and ready to install. Framed art requiring glazing must be fitted with acrylic. An art handler assigned by Sun Metro will be responsible for exhibit design, installation, and lighting. Sun Metro will be responsible for invitations, receptions, and press releases. Artists will not receive compensation for exhibiting but will have the opportunity to have their work purchased through the exhibition.
