About This Call
Dogwood Arts Council, Inc administers ArtTracks, an outdoor juried exhibit of sculptures installed on private property throughout downtown Palestine, TX. The exhibition is viewable by pedestrian and vehicular traffic and attracts art enthusiasts from the Texas area.
Up to 6 artists will be selected for a 2-year placement from February 2024 through February 2026. Selected artists receive $1,200 in funding per sculpture and are eligible for cash awards: 1st place $500 (People's Choice), 2nd place $350, and 3rd place $150. Only artists displaying their own original works are eligible. Artists are selected by the Dogwood Arts Council board through a jury process and will be paired with a location on private property in the downtown area.
Submissions must include a minimum of 3 and maximum of 20 jpeg images (1 MB to 3 MB each) showing front, back, base, and artist's choice views. A mounting description and installation instructions are required. The entry fee is $35 per application, with up to 6 applications allowed per artist. Sculptures should be 6 feet or taller and appropriate for outdoor public placement. History or railroad themes are encouraged. Jury selection occurs in early December with notification by December 10th. Installation must be completed no later than February 15, 2024.
