ArtSpace Maynard - West Gallery - Call for Proposals, 2020-2021 Season

ArtSpace Maynard invites New England artists in all media (except video) to submit proposals for a 5-6 week solo or group exhibition during the 2020-2021 season in the West Gallery. Exhibitions are limited to New England artists. Proposals should present a coherent theme based on a unifying concept that is social, historical, philosophical, cultural, political or other.

The West Gallery is a 922 square foot, newly renovated space with 106 linear feet of wall space, a 10 foot high ceiling and state of the art lighting. The gallery is managed by a committed group of volunteer ArtSpace studio artists with years of experience. You are encouraged to view the space prior to submitting your proposal.

Submissions must include: a statement of concept with exhibition title, list of participating artists, and one paragraph summary of the show's intention; 1-2 page resume for each artist; images (minimum 5, maximum 20); and a $35.00 application fee. For group shows, you must have secured participation of all artists prior to submission and provide a combined resume document and artist agreement.

Selected artists/curators are responsible for developing and mailing postcards (1000 to ArtSpace for their mailing list), providing artist statements and print-ready images, delivering and installing artwork, preparing an opening reception with refreshments, and gallery sitting on Saturdays from 11-4. For group shows, one point-person or curator must attend a gallery orientation session prior to the exhibition. ArtSpace will provide listing in Art New England and Artscope, prepare and distribute press releases, handle mailing and postage to their mailing list, provide gallery sitting Wednesday-Friday, and organize a Zoom reception/artist talk and online gallery. The gallery receives a 30% commission on artwork sales but does not guarantee sales. Proposal deadline: October 15. Notification: October 30.
