ArtSpace Maynard Gallery Call for Proposals

ArtSpace Maynard invites artists in all media (except video) to submit proposals for one month solo or group exhibitions for the 2016-2017 season. Proposals should present a coherent theme based on a unifying concept that is social, historical, philosophical, cultural, political or other. Preference will be given to New England artists. Selection criteria include quality of work, clarity and coherence of concept, and ability of artist/curator to complete the project.

The ArtSpace Gallery is 1800 sq. ft. with 150 ft. of linear wall space, 16 ft. of built-in glass display cases and can accommodate large group exhibits. Gallery floor plans are available at http://www.artspacemaynard.com/artspace-gallery-floor-map/. For group shows, one point person or curator must be designated. Selected artists/curators are responsible for developing and mailing postcards (1000 copies to ArtSpace for their mailing list), delivering and installing artwork, removing the exhibit, and preparing an opening reception with refreshments on the second Saturday of the month. Gallery sitting by artist or designee is required on Saturdays from 11-3.

ArtSpace provides listing in Art New England or Artscope, local and regional media, press releases, mailing and postage to the ArtSpace mailing list, and gallery sitting Wednesday through Friday. The gallery receives a 30% commission on artwork sales but does not guarantee sales. Limited insurance is offered for loaned work. Entry fee is $25.00. Submit 6-10 images for solo exhibitions or up to 20 images for group shows in JPEG format (minimum 1920 pixels on longest side, 72ppi, 5 MB maximum). Required submission materials include a statement of concept with exhibition title and participating artists, resumes/CV (1-2 pages per artist), and for group shows, an artist agreement confirming participation of all artists. Proposal deadline is May 18 with artist notification on June 15.
