Artspace: Fine Contemporary Craft of the Southeastern US

Fine Contemporary Craft of the Southeastern US is a national biennial juried exhibition for craftspeople and artists with ties to the Southeast working in a variety of media. This year's juror is Stefanie Gerber Darr, Gallery Manager at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts.

Eligible media include functional or sculptural works in basketry, ceramics, fiber, furniture (any media), glass, jewelry, metal, mixed media, handmade paper, and wood. Fine art media such as painting, photography, and lithography are not eligible unless incorporated into an otherwise eligible media. Decorated furniture, candles, pressed flowers, handmade reproductions, and objects made from commercial kits or commercially available plans are also not eligible. Eligible ties to the Southeastern US include birthplace, residence, or education based in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. All work must be original and available for exhibition if selected.

Entrants must submit images of up to two original works with a maximum of 3 details total. The entry fee is $30. Accepted work must be hand-delivered or shipped to Artspace between November 14-20, 2014 (10am-6pm, closed Sundays; ring bell on Mondays). All shipping and transportation costs are the responsibility of the artist. Shipped entries must be sent in a reusable container and artists must prepay for return shipping. The exhibition runs December 5, 2014 - January 17, 2015, with an opening reception and awards presentation on December 5 (reception 6-10pm; awards 7pm). Artspace retains a 30% commission on works sold. Awards include Best of Show ($750), Second Place ($500), Third Place ($250), and two Honorable Mentions ($50 each). All accepted entries will be listed in an exhibition brochure.
