Artspace Colorado Springs Mural RFQ

Artspace Colorado Springs is seeking mural proposals for two exterior wall sites at 315 E Costilla St in the Downtown COS Creative District. The five-story development houses 51 units of affordable live/work housing and commercial space. Mural proposals should evoke the ethos of creative workers as crucial to Downtown's character and cultural vitality.

Up to five finalists will be selected through this Request for Qualifications and each will receive $400 to develop up to three design concepts. After design review, two artists will be contracted to execute their designs as murals. Compensation ranges from $31,500–$38,000 for Site B (25´–0˝ x 30´–0˝ and 24´–6˝ x 22´–6˝ west-facing wall) and $40,000–$48,000 for Site A (25´–0˝ x 64´–0˝ south-facing wall). Final project budget will be based on selected design parameters. All murals must be installed using paint and completed by May 29, 2026.

Eligibility: Artists must be local to Colorado, have experience designing and installing at least one public-facing mural, and demonstrate a strong artistic portfolio with relevant experience. Submissions must be original creative work; artwork wholly or partly generated by Generative AI technologies are not eligible. Work samples will be evaluated for placemaking impact, artistic merit, alignment with project goals, and representation of diverse viewpoints. RFQ deadline: February 25, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Finalist notification: March 11, 2026. Finalist design concept deadline: March 25, 2026. Artist selection notification: April 1, 2026. Installation scheduled for May 2026.
