Artspace Artists Association Professional Membership

Artspace Artists Association (AAA) membership is a professional membership opportunity for artists. The application fee is $30, and annual membership dues are $80, which includes individual membership to Artspace, Inc.

AAA membership benefits include participation in Artspace Hall exhibitions, opportunities for solo exhibits in the Artspace Lobby, opportunities for solo or two-person shows in the Upfront Gallery, selection for AAA-only group exhibitions in Gallery One, and sales opportunities through exhibitions and the Artspace gift shop (30% commission taken). Members may also participate in the leadership and direction of the Association through committees, officer positions, or the Board of Directors of Artspace, Inc. Studio space rental in the Artspace building is available as space becomes available and requirements are met, with no commission charged on studio sales.

Membership dues include a complimentary subscription to the Artspace bi-monthly newsletter (Artspace Now), special mailings for exhibitions and programs, discounts on classes and workshops, invitations to Members Only events, 10% discount on gift shop purchases and exhibition art, and an invitation to the Members Annual Meeting. Artspace, Inc. is a nonprofit arts center that supports area artists through exhibition opportunities, educational programming, classes, and community outreach.

The application uses a two-stage jury process. Stage One: Standards Committee members select finalists through www.callforentry.org. Applicants must submit a completed jury application, ten images representing work produced in the last three years, resume, artist statement, artist biography, and a $30 application fee. Stage Two: Finalists bring 8 original works to Artspace for review by three regional jurors (artists, museum curators, university art professors, gallery owners, or other arts professionals). Jurors evaluate professionalism and quality of work, including competence and technical excellence, visual impact and originality, a distinct body of work with consistent exploration, and evidence of professional artistic practice through resume and written materials.
