Artspace Artists Association Professional Membership Spring 2014

Artspace Artists Association membership is open to regional artists in North Carolina. The application deadline is April 1, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. MDT, with an entry fee of $30.

Applicants must submit up to 13 artwork samples (up to 10 digital images and up to 3 optional video works), a resume, artist statement, and artist biography. The selection process uses a two-stage jury system. Stage One: Standards Committee members select finalists through submitted materials. Stage Two: Finalists bring 6 original works to Artspace for in-person review by three regional jurors (artists, museum curators, university art professors, gallery owners, or other arts professionals). Jurors evaluate competence in medium and technique, visual impact and originality, consistency and professionalism of the body of work, and evidence of professional artistic practice.

Annual membership dues are $80 and include individual membership to Artspace, Inc. Benefits include participation in Artspace hall exhibitions, opportunities for solo exhibitions in the Artspace Lobby, opportunities for solo or two-person shows in the Upfront Gallery, selection for AAA-only group exhibitions in Gallery One (one annual juried exhibition and one biennial three-person exhibition), and sales opportunities through exhibitions and the Artspace gift shop (30% commission). Members may participate in leadership through committees, officer positions, or the Board of Directors. Studio space rental is available as space becomes available with no commission charged on studio sales. Additional benefits include complimentary newsletter subscription, discounts on classes and workshops, invitations to members-only events, 10% discount on gift shop and exhibition purchases, and invitation to the Members Annual Meeting.
