Artspace Artists Association Professional Membership Spring 2011

Artspace Artists Association membership provides participation in Artspace Hall exhibitions, opportunities for solo exhibits in the Artspace Lobby, opportunities for solo or two-person shows in the Upfront Gallery, selection for AAA-only group exhibitions in Gallery One, and sales opportunities through exhibitions and the Artspace gift shop (30% commission taken). Members may participate in the leadership and direction of the Association through committees, officer positions, or the Board of Directors of Artspace, Inc. AAA members may also rent studio space in the Artspace building as space becomes available and requirements can be met, with no commission charged on studio sales.

Annual membership dues are $80, which include individual membership to Artspace, Inc. Benefits include complimentary subscription to the Artspace bi-monthly newsletter Artspace Now; special mailings for exhibitions, programs and special events; discounts on classes, workshops and events; invitations to Members Only events; 10% discount on gift shop and exhibition purchases; invitation to the Members Annual Meeting; and support for Artspace's mission as a nonprofit arts center.

The membership application uses a two-stage jury process. Stage One: Standards Committee members select finalists through callforentry.org. Applicants must submit a completed jury application, eight images representing work produced during the last three years, resume, artist statement, artist biography, and a $25 application fee. Stage Two: Finalists will bring 8 original works of art to Artspace for review by three regional jurors (artists, museum curators, university art professors, gallery owners, or other arts professionals). Jurors evaluate professionalism and quality of work, including competence and technical excellence, visual impact and originality, a distinct body of work with consistent exploration, and evidence of professional work as an artist.
