Artspace Artist Association Professional Membership

Artspace Artist Association membership provides participation in hall exhibitions, opportunities for solo exhibits in the Artspace Lobby, and opportunities for solo or two-person shows in the Upfront Gallery. Members may be selected for AAA-only group exhibitions in Gallery One, including one annual juried exhibition and one biennial three-person exhibition. Sales opportunities are available through exhibitions and the Artspace gift shop (30% commission taken). Members may participate in the leadership and direction of the Association through committees, officer positions, or the Board of Directors of Artspace, Inc. Studio space rental in the Artspace building is available as space becomes available and requirements are met, with no commission charged on studio sales.

Artspace Artist Association annual membership dues are $80, which includes individual membership to Artspace, Inc. Benefits include a complimentary subscription to the bi-monthly newsletter Artspace Now, special mailings for exhibitions and programs, discounts on classes and workshops, invitations to Members Only events, 10% discount on gift shop purchases and exhibition art, invitation to the Members Annual Meeting, and support for Artspace's nonprofit mission.

Applicants must submit up to 13 artwork samples (up to 10 digital images and up to 3 video works), a resume, artist statement, and artist biography. The application fee is $30. The membership selection uses a two-stage jury process. Stage One: Standards Committee members select finalists through callforentry.org. Stage Two: Finalists bring 8 original works to Artspace for review by three regional jurors (artists, museum curators, university art professors, gallery owners, or other arts professionals). Work must be delivered September 25, 26, or 27. Jurors evaluate professionalism and quality of work, including competence in medium and technique, visual impact and originality, consistency of body of work, and evidence of professional artistic practice.
