About This Call
The Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County is seeking temporary and permanent installations and works for its annual ArtScape 7 public art installation. The organization is looking for 3-D outdoor sculptures, works, and installations to place 15-20 temporary works at varied and diverse outdoor sites in downtown Fayetteville and surrounding areas. Works will be leased for a period of no less than one year. In addition to temporary installations, the Arts Council is also seeking to purchase several permanent works for the Cape Fear River Trail and Murchison Road Corridor.
Selected artists will receive a one-year lease payment of $1,500, $3,000, or $5,000+, plus a travel stipend of up to $500 per installation. Each artist is responsible for installation and de-installation of their public art. Artists may list works for sale and will receive 70% of any individual sale; the lease fee will be applied towards the purchase price. The Arts Council will carry liability and damage insurance for the exhibition and will publicize the exhibit through its website, brochures, social media, and print advertising. Artists will receive on-site recognition and be invited to an opening reception.
Artists may submit up to 4 applications, with one separate application required for each artwork. Each application must include artist contact information, biography, up to 3 images of one existing piece from various angles, an artist statement, and a description of installation and removal requirements including stability provisions, size of concrete pad or hard surface if needed, number of extra laborers required, any special equipment needed, lease price, and sale price or insurance value. Selection criteria include artistic excellence, safety, suitability for public display, compatibility with available sites, durability, and maintenance. Installation period is between June 15-30, 2023, with removal between June 1-15, 2024.
