About This Call
The Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County is seeking sculptures and temporary installations for its annual ArtScape 6. The Arts Council will place 10-20 works at varied and diverse sites in downtown Fayetteville and surrounding areas. Works will be leased for a period of no less than one year, with target lease fees estimated at $1,000 to $3,000 for a one-year period. The committee will accept submissions up to a maximum of $10,000 for a one-year lease period.
Artists may submit up to 4 applications, with each application including contact information, biography, up to 3 images of one existing piece, an artist statement, and a description of installation/removal requirements and stability provisions. Applications must include the lease price and sale price (or insurance value if not for sale), number of laborers needed for installation/deinstallation, and any special equipment required. Selection criteria include artistic excellence, safety, suitability for public display, compatibility with available sites, durability, and maintenance.
Artists will receive 70% payment on any individual sale, with the lease fee applied towards the purchase. All sold works must remain on display for the duration of the loan period. Artists will receive a travel stipend of up to $500 for travel expenses. The Arts Council will carry liability and damage insurance, publicize the exhibit through its website, brochures, social media, and print advertising, and provide on-site recognition. Artists will be invited to an opening reception. A People's Choice award of $1,000 will be given during the exhibition. Installation is scheduled between June 15-30, 2022, with removal between June 1-15, 2023. For questions, contact Antonio Renteria at 910-323-1776 ext. 1003 or [email protected].
