About This Call
The Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County is seeking sculptures and temporary installations for ArtScape 5. The Arts Council will place 10-20 works at varied and diverse sites in downtown Fayetteville. Works will be leased for a period of no less than one year, with lease amounts ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 for a one-year period.
Selection criteria include artistic excellence, safety, suitability for public display, compatibility with available sites, durability, and maintenance. The selection committee will make recommendations to the City's Public Art Commission, who will forward final recommendations to the City Manager for final decisions. Works must be suitable for outdoor installation and built in a durable, stable fashion, capable of withstanding adverse weather conditions including wind, rain, high temperature, and freezing conditions. Artwork will be installed in close proximity to the viewing public and must not pose hazards or potential for injury.
Artists will have the opportunity to list works for sale and should provide purchase price with submission. Artists will receive 70% payment on any individual sale; all sold works must remain on display for the duration of the loan period. A travel stipend of up to $500 will be provided. The Arts Council will carry liability and damage insurance for the exhibition and will publicize the exhibit through its website, brochures, social media, and print advertising. There will be on-site recognition to the artist and an invitation to an opening reception. A People's Choice award of $1,000 will be given during the exhibition. Installation is scheduled between June 15-30, 2021, with removal between June 1-15, 2022. Applications must include contact information, biography, up to 5 images, artwork statement, installation/removal requirements, stability provisions, number of laborers needed, special equipment required, lease price, and sale price or insurance value. Contact Antonio Renteria at 910-323-1776 ext. 233 or [email protected] with questions.
