Arts in the Open 2024 Sculpture Competition

A public outdoor sculpture competition sponsored by the City of Sandy Springs in partnership with Art Sandy Springs. Nine sculptures will be prominently displayed around the four-acre City Green at City Springs, the City's town center. One or more sculptures from the competition will be purchased by the City to be permanently placed in public locations around Sandy Springs.

Eligibility is open to local, regional, and national artists. Each selected artist will receive a $1,500 honorarium, which will be applied to the purchase price if the sculpture is purchased by the City. Artists may submit up to 3 individual sculptures for consideration. All submissions must be made electronically through CaFE.org and should include a full description of the artwork with a minimum of three photo images (front, side, and back views), an artist's statement, and artist bio. There is no entry fee. Sculpture installation is scheduled for August 12–16, 2024.

All artwork must be existing works completed prior to submission, suitable for outdoor public display, and of high artistic quality. Artwork must be safe for an active pedestrian environment and appropriate for viewers of all ages. Artwork shall require only minimal maintenance and be able to withstand weather, vandalism, and pedestrian contact. Artists are responsible for delivering and overseeing installation of their sculpture and must be present for removal at the end of the exhibition. Artwork cannot be shipped due to lack of storage space and staff availability. All sculptures will be on loan to the City during the exhibition period and may be available for sale to the public. A 20% commission will be paid to Art Sandy Springs for pieces purchased by entities other than the City.
