About This Call

The HYARTS PROGRAMMING ANNEX is a community arts space located in downtown Hyannis among museums, arts organizations, a public library, shared art wall, green space, and education partners, all within walking distance of the harbor. The space offers arts education, salon performances, artist dwell spaces, and a glass studio and workshop.

As an artist in residence (June 1 – August 3, 2024), you will have access to private living space, studio space, gallery space, and support to create and showcase your work. The historic home, constructed in 1830 and renovated in 2007, features 24/7 private access to a two-story studio/gallery, outdoor work area, and a private gallery space where an end-of-residency exhibition and reception will be provided. You will have opportunities to connect with other artists and educators in the area.

The Arts Educator in Residence position requires teaching summer classes for 24 hours each week during July 8, 15, 22, and 29 (paid stipend of $600 per week). You are also expected to give public demonstrations and host open studios one day per week. The front exhibition area is open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10–12 pm, providing opportunities to interact with the community.

Application Requirements: Visual and literary artists submit 6 work samples; video/performance artists submit 3 work samples via URL; CV/resume reflecting artistic accomplishments; 2 references (1 professional, 1 personal) with names and contact information; $25 application fee.

Eligibility: Candidates must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Fine Arts, Education, or a related field; minimum 2 years of experience in teaching or working in an arts education program; strong understanding of arts education principles and practices; ability to design and implement engaging arts curriculum; excellent written and verbal communication skills; passion for the arts and commitment to fostering creativity in young people. The residency is open to all artists regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, marital status, or physical or mental disability.
