Arts Downtown Outdoor Sculpture Gallery 2025-2027

Arts Downtown, an independent nonprofit organization in Puyallup, Washington, is seeking five outdoor sculptures for a two-year rotating gallery installation in Downtown Puyallup. Selected artists will receive a $2,000 stipend at the time of installation. All artwork must be for sale, with Arts Downtown receiving a 10% commission on any sales. If a work is selected as the "Community Favorite" and not purchased, the artist will receive an additional $2,000 award at de-installation.

Eligible artists must be at least 18 years old and reside or work in Washington, Idaho, Oregon, or California. Each artist may apply up to three times with separate sculptures. Submissions must be original, pre-existing outdoor sculptures in any medium, mounted on a steel or stainless steel base and scaled to be visible from 50 feet away. Works will be evaluated on aesthetics, durability, safety, and suitability for public space. All sculptures must be able to withstand two years of outdoor weather in an accessible, unregulated public space and pass inspection prior to installation.

Installation is scheduled for April 27, 2025, with de-installation on April 25, 2027. Artists are responsible for transporting their work to and from the site but are not responsible for installation costs or site preparation. Artists must insure their work up to $5,000; the City of Puyallup will insure against loss or damage exceeding that amount. Selected works will be promoted through online and print advertising, and a digital walking tour will be created featuring all artists. Entry deadline: January 31, 2025. No entry fee.
