About This Call

Arts Downtown, a member organization of Valley Arts United in partnership with the City of Puyallup, invites artists to exhibit sculptures in the Puyallup community. This is the eighteenth exhibit of Arts Downtown, Puyallup's Outdoor Sculpture Gallery, a public art program that has 19 years of outdoor gallery experience. The program currently displays 47 pieces of art in the City of Puyallup's permanent gallery. The 2017-2019 rotating exhibit may include the selection of up to 5 pieces of art.

All art must be durable and able to maintain its quality in extreme weather conditions and withstand possible pedestrian contact. Each piece must be of sufficient size to be easily visible to passersby and must pass final inspection upon installation. All art must be for sale. Artists selected for the 2017-2019 exhibit will be requested to sign an agreement with the City of Puyallup and Valley Arts United/Arts Downtown. Sculptures must have a 1/4" thick steel base attached that can be spot welded during installation. Property damage insurance will be provided by the City of Puyallup.

Selected artists will receive $2,000 paid for the duration of the 2017-2019 exhibit, plus a $2,000 honorarium for the "Community Favorite" award. The program provides promotion through education and special events within the community and advertising throughout the Pacific Northwest, including Sunset Magazine, Portland Monthly Magazine, South Sound Magazine, and City Arts Magazine. Additional benefits include full color brochures with gallery map, a guided mobile tour with OnCell, website listings with links to artists' personal sites, and an experienced installation crew. Entry requires a current resume, artist bio, artist's statement particular to each entry, and up to 3 images of the work. Regional eligibility; Washington state artists.
