Arts at the Port: Anacortes Arts Festival Juried Fine Art Show

Arts at the Port is the annual juried fine art exhibition and crown jewel of the Anacortes Arts Festival, held August 7-9, 2015. The exhibition showcases regional fine art to an estimated audience of 90,000 and features work from approximately 30 to 40 selected artists displaying 2 to 5 works each in both 2D and 3D formats. The exhibition is housed in the Port of Anacortes Transit Shed Event Center, a rustic waterfront setting at the north end of the Festival. Arts at the Port also includes the Allen Family Invitational Gallery and a K-12 youth art exhibition.

The juror is Stefano Catalani, Director of Art, Craft and Design at the Bellevue Art Museum. Artists working in 2D categories (drawing, painting, mixed media, photography, digitally generated art, video) and 3D categories (sculpture, fine crafts including fiber, ceramics, metals, glass, wood, basketry, jewelry, and installation) are invited to enter. Installation and video artists must submit a one-page written or drawn proposal and 5 images documenting past work. Entry fee is $35. Submit 3-10 images of your work. Notification of acceptance will be by April 30, 2015.

Artists are eligible for up to $11,500 in awards: $3,000 Best of Show, $2,000 Excellence Award (2 @ $1,000 each), $1,000 Festival Choice Award, $4,000 "Anacortes Collects" Festival Public Art Purchase Award, $1,000 People's Choice Award, and $500 T Bailey Corporate Award. All accepted work must be for sale; the Festival handles sales and retains a 50% commission. The Festival will insure accepted work up to $2,500 per piece. Artwork must be available from July 26 through August 9, 2015. Mailed work must arrive before July 23, 2015 and use Plexiglas with a return postage label. No reproduced work (except photography or digitally created), work displayed elsewhere in the Festival, or work previously entered in the Anacortes Arts Festival will be accepted.
