ArtPop Street Gallery - Charlotte Region

ArtPop Street Gallery is seeking artists for their 2018 Charlotte Region public art program. Twenty artists will be selected to have their work featured on billboards in uptown Charlotte.

Eligibility: Applicants must be 18 or older, have an active art website, and reside in one of the following NC/SC counties: Cabarrus, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Rutherford, Stanly, Union, or York (SC). Artists cannot have been part of the ArtPop program in the last three years (Class of 2014 artists may reapply). Submissions must be original work created within the last three years and the work of one individual only. Work depicting nudes or slanderous content will not be accepted.

Submission Requirements: Applicants must submit a brief artist statement explaining their medium, website, social media accounts, and reasons for wanting to participate in the program, along with an image of their work. All disciplines are welcome. Non-digital work must be photographed and cropped to a 24" x 5.5" rectangle and pre-cropped before submission. File size maximum is 5MB. Selected artists will be required to provide a high-resolution 300 dpi file of their final artwork.

A seven-member jury of arts professionals, collectors, and ArtPop alumni will judge all qualifying submissions. Selected artists will be notified by November 6, 2017. The ArtPop Artist Reveal Reception is scheduled for Thursday, November 30th in uptown Charlotte. Billboard installations are planned for the week of January 8-12, 2018. Entry fee is $25. Application deadline is October 15, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
