ArtPop Class of 2023 Cities Program

ArtPop Street Gallery showcases local artists by displaying their work on printed vinyl billboards across the Charlotte region for a 12-month period. Selected artists receive advertising space valued at $6.5mm+ annually, along with digital displays through partner media outlets including Awedience Media and Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.

This call seeks 20 artists across all disciplines. Applicants must reside in one of the following NC/SC counties: Cabarrus, Catawba, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Rutherford, Stanly, Union, York (SC), or Lancaster (SC). Eligible applicants are either adults 18+ with an active artist website (Etsy and Instagram do not qualify), or high school seniors planning to study the arts in higher education. Applicants cannot have been selected as an ArtPop artist in the previous 3 years, though artists from 2014-2019 classes may reapply. All submitted artwork must be original work created within the last three years, and collaborations are not accepted.

Submissions consist of one artwork cropped to 24" x 7" rectangle specifications (maximum 5MB file size). Work depicting nude subjects, slanderous content, or political/religious causes cannot be accepted. Selected artists must submit a 300 dpi image upon acceptance, add a clickable link to ArtPopStreetGallery.com on their website, make one social media post per month tagging @artpopstreetgallery and #ArtPopCLT, and are invited to attend the 10th Annual Reveal Event on December 1, 2022 at Le Meridien Hotel Charlotte-Sheraton. Selected artists are also offered a free business course through ArtistsU.org and may be asked to volunteer or participate in pop-up shows, though these are not mandatory. Notification of selection will be provided on or by November 7, 2022.
