ArtPop Charlotte NC/SC Region 2021 Call

ArtPop Street Gallery is seeking 20 artists (19 adults and 1 high school senior) for a public art program featuring artwork displayed on billboards throughout the Charlotte region for a 12-month period (January 1 - December 31, 2021). Selected artists' work will span 672 square feet on billboards provided by Adams Outdoor Advertising, with additional media space including an Uptown newsstand for 6 months.

Eligibility: Applicants must be at least 18 years old (waived for high school seniors) and reside in one of the following counties: Cabarrus, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Rutherford, Stanly, Union (NC), or York and Lancaster (SC). Adult artists must have an active artist website. High school seniors must be planning to study the arts in higher education during the 2021-2022 academic year. Applicants may not have been selected as an ArtPop artist in the last three years (artists from 2014-2017 are welcome to reapply). Work must be original, created within the last three years, and individual submissions only (no collaborations).

Submission Requirements: One image only, maximum 5MB file size, pre-cropped to 24" x 5.5" rectangle specifications. All artistic disciplines welcome. Work depicting nude subjects or slanderous content will not be accepted. Applicants must submit a brief artist statement including medium, website URL, social media accounts, contact information, and explanation of interest in the program. Entry fee: $30. Selected artists must agree to add a clickable link to ArtPopStreetGallery.com on their website, make one social media post per month tagging @artpopstreetgallery and #ArtPopCLT, and attend the 8th Annual Reveal Event on December 3, 2020. All selected artists are offered a free business course through ArtistsU.org. Jury comprised of art professionals, collectors, and ArtPop alumni will select submissions.
