ArtPop Charlotte 2019

ArtPop is a public art program that displays selected artwork on billboards throughout the Charlotte region. If selected as one of 20 ArtPop Charlotte artists, your winning submission will appear on one of 20 billboards provided by Adams Outdoor Advertising for a 12-month period. Each selected artist will also receive an Uptown newsstand for 6 months. This advertising space translates to a $50K-70K value. Selected artists will be notified by November 12th and must attend the ArtPop Artist Reveal Reception on Thursday, December 6, 2018 in Uptown Charlotte. Billboards are expected to be installed the week of January 7-11, 2019.

Eligibility requirements: You must be at least 18 years old or a high school senior planning to study the arts in higher education in 2019/2020. You must have an active artist website (waived for high school seniors). You must reside in one of the following counties: Cabarrus, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Rutherford, Stanly, or Union (NC), or York or Lancaster (SC). You may not have been selected as an ArtPop artist in the last three years (artists from 2014 and 2015 are welcome to reapply). Submissions must be original work created in the last three years and must be the work of one individual; collaborations are not accepted.

Submission requirements: Submit one image only, maximum 5MB file size, pre-cropped to a 24" x 5.5" rectangle. All disciplines are welcome including drawings, paintings, sculpture, printmaking, textiles, photography, and digital illustration. Work depicting nude subjects or slanderous creative will not be accepted. You must also submit a brief artist statement explaining your medium, listing your website URL and social media accounts, and explaining why you want to be part of ArtPop (high school seniors should speak to their academic plans). Entry fee is $25. Deadline: October 14, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. MST.
