About This Call
ARToberFEST Galveston is the 29th annual juried fine art festival on the Gulf Coast, taking place October 17-18, 2026 in Galveston's Historic Downtown Cultural Arts District. This two-day outdoor event attracts 8,000–10,000 attendees and has been voted one of the top 200 art shows in the U.S. by Sunshine Artist Magazine. The festival features fine art, live music, food, and hands-on art activities for kids. All proceeds benefit educational programs at The Grand 1894 Opera House.
The event is open to individual fine artists and craftsmen displaying their own original work. Artists must be present at the festival. Participation is limited to a maximum of 125 juried artists. Application deadline is May 30, 2026 (Early Bird deadline March 31, 2026). Application fee is $25 ($15 Early Bird). Booth options include single 10x10 booths ($200) and double 10x20 booths ($400, limited availability on first-come basis). Jury notification occurs June 9, 2026, and booth purchase deadline is July 10, 2026. Load-in is Friday, October 16th late afternoon.
Accepted categories include ceramics, digital art, drawing, fiber/textiles, functional art, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, wood, sculpture, and other media. Applicants must submit 5 images (including a required booth shot). Festival amenities include 24-hour security, booth-sitting by Galveston Police Department, complimentary coffee and pastries, live music, and one free parking pass per artist per day. Artists are responsible for collecting and paying 8.25% sales tax on all items sold and must obtain a valid Texas Sales Tax Permit. A 50% refund of booth fees is available until September 1, 2026.
