Artists of Hawai'i 2015

The Honolulu Museum of Art's 61st Artists of Hawai'i showcases the quality and diversity of art being made in Hawai'i. This is an open call exhibition for all artists currently residing in the state of Hawai'i. Artists are invited to submit digital images of 3 to 10 recent works. The museum curators will select 8 to 12 artists rather than specific works from the submissions. The curators will then conduct up to 3 studio visits with each artist over several months to select works for the exhibition. Each selected artist will have a body of work shown. Cash awards will be presented at the time of the exhibition.

Eligibility is limited to artists living in the state of Hawai'i. Works are eligible in any medium or combination of media, including painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, collage, sculpture, film and video, light works, sound, ceramic, glass, wood, fiber, and metal/jewelry. Submissions are accepted from August 15 – September 15, 2014. Artists may submit visual art (minimum 3 digital images, maximum 10 digital images), or video and sound art (up to 2 videos/audio tracks, along with up to 8 still images). An artist's statement (limit 1,000 characters including spaces) and a brief resume outlining exhibition history (one page maximum) must be included. There is no submission fee. All materials must be submitted in digital format through CaFÉ (www.callforentry.org). The museum will notify all artists of results via email on September 23, 2014. A checklist of works for the exhibition will be due by April 6, 2015. Exhibition dates are July 2 – October 25, 2015. Selected artists must deliver or ship artwork by June 16, 2015. A shipping stipend (amount TBD) will be provided to artists from neighbor islands.
