About This Call
Artists Make Technology invites proposals for bold ideas in the performing arts that engage digital tools, innovative data practices, and emerging production methods. This is a new multi-foundation initiative grounded in the conviction that a vibrant, safe, and open digital future relies on deeper collaboration between the performing arts and technology fields.
The Artists Make Technology Lab (AMT Lab) is both a grant program and a support system that aims to expand access to and nurture new ways of creating, sharing, and experiencing the performing arts. Whether you are just beginning to explore digital tools or have long worked with emerging stage and production technologies, artistic and technical proposals are welcome. Individuals, collaborations, partnerships, and organizations are all eligible. Support includes financial resources for a six-month period of rapid prototyping, along with imaginative convenings, cohort-building activities, and advising. Participants will join a series of virtual and in-person meetings designed to facilitate shared learning and exchange.
In 2026–27, the Artists Make Technology Lab will award up to 20 project grants of up to $150,000 to support artists and technologists in developing new works and ideas. Prior to the Lab's kick-off date, successful applicants will have a 2-month project preparation period. This investment is a partnership between the Doris Duke Foundation and Mozilla Foundation.
