About This Call
AIRIE, in partnership with Everglades National Park, invites emerging and professional artists in any artistic discipline to engage with the theme "How can we make the outdoors a space of belonging?" Over the 2022-2023 season, AIRIE is investigating how to make the outdoors a space of belonging, recognizing that preservation of the natural environment and the fight against climate change require racial equity in the movement. Historically, Black, Indigenous, People of Color and other marginalized voices have been devalued and suppressed in environmental conversations. AIRIE believes artists have the communicative ability to lead society to a more inclusive and just future.
Over the past 20 years, Artists in Residence in Everglades has welcomed over 191 artists, writers, curators, choreographers, musicians, and other creatives to its residency program. The program empowers artists to think creatively and critically about their relationship to the environment. Applicants must be 21+ years of age, able to travel to and within the United States, and pursuing the research and development stage of an artistic project or exploration. AIRIE is not responsible for procuring or sponsoring visas to the United States.
Entry fee: $20.00. Work samples may include up to 10 images, 5 audio files, and/or 5 video files (10 total samples maximum). Eligibility is international. For further information or questions, contact [email protected].
