Artists Council Exhibition 2018

The 2018 Artists Council Exhibition will be held at Palm Springs Art Museum from October 20 through December 9, 2018. The Awards Program will be held on October 27, 2018, in the museum's Annenberg Theatre. This exhibition marks the Artists Council's 50th anniversary and the launch of the organization as independent of the museum. Three jurors will select works and distribute prizes: Chip Tom (Curator with Heather James Gallery in Palm Desert), Cybele Rowe (Australian artist and professor), and Anne M. Rowe (Director of Collections and Exhibitions, Sunnylands Center & Gardens).

The exhibition is open to Artists Council Members only. Membership must be valid at the time of submission and for the duration of the exhibition. Each member may enter up to three pieces, with a limit of one accepted artwork per member. Artwork must be original, completed after January 2, 2016, and not previously exhibited at Palm Springs Art Museum. All artwork must be available for sale at prices between $600 and $10,000. The Artists Council will receive 50% of the purchase price (excluding sales tax), with 50% going to the artist. Maximum framed size is 60" high by 48" wide. Three-dimensional artwork cannot exceed 150 pounds or 72" high by 48" wide by 48" deep. All works on paper must be protected by glass or Plexiglass.

The entry fee is $50. All entries must be submitted via the CaFE online system by August 1, 2018, at 11:59 p.m. MDT and must include 1-3 images and an artist statement not exceeding 1000 characters or 250 words. Artist notifications will be completed by September 17, 2018. Accepted artwork must be hand-delivered to the Artists Council Center at Palm Springs Art Museum on October 15, 2018 (9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) or October 16, 2018 (1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.). Unsold artwork must be picked up on December 11, 2018 (9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) or December 12, 2018 (1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.). Artists are responsible for insurance; neither the Artists Council nor Palm Springs Art Museum will be responsible for loss or damage.
