About This Call
The 47th annual Artists Council Exhibition will take place at Palm Springs Art Museum from October 1 to November 27, 2016. The Awards Program will be held on October 29, 2016, in the Annenberg Theatre at the museum. Three jurors will select works for the exhibition and award $10,000 in prizes: Gerald Clarke, teacher in the Ethnic Studies Department at the University of California, Riverside, and former Chair of the Visual Arts Department at Idyllwild Arts Academy; Susan Goodman, collector and member of the Palm Springs Art Museum Board of Trustees; and Phillip K. Smith, III, artist and creator of large-scale installations.
Open to Artists Council members only. Membership must be valid at time of submission and for the duration of the exhibition. Each member may enter up to three pieces, with a limit of one accepted artwork per member. Artwork must be original, completed since July 2013, and not previously exhibited at Palm Springs Art Museum. All artwork must be available for sale at a price between $500 and $6,000. The artist receives 50% of the purchase price (excluding sales tax); 50% goes to the museum. Two-dimensional artwork must be framed and ready for hanging, with maximum framed size of 48" high by 48" wide. Three-dimensional artwork cannot exceed 150 pounds or 72" high by 48" wide by 48" deep, and must be ready for pedestal display.
Entry fee is $50. All entries must be submitted via the CaFE online system by Friday, July 22, 2016, and must include 1-3 images and a short artist statement (250 words or less). Artist notifications will be completed by Friday, August 26, 2016.
