About This Call
The Artists Archives of the Western Reserve (AAWR), established in 1996, is an archival facility and regional museum that preserves representative bodies of work created by Ohio visual artists and documents this cultural heritage through exhibitions and educational programs. AAWR's Cleveland location features multiple print organizations supporting print artists and collectors, including the Cleveland Museum of Art Print Club, Zygote Press, Future Ink Graphics, Deep Dive Projects, Ping Pong Press, and the Morgan Conservatory of Papermaking. In conjunction with the SAGA exhibition, AAWR will display prints from the collection of Jack and Linda Lissauer, featuring works by American contemporary printmakers.
This exhibition is open to active members of SAGA. Artists may submit 1-2 original prints created within the past 5 years. Work cannot have been previously shown in the AAWR gallery, AAWR-sponsored exhibitions, or other Cleveland exhibitions within the past year. Approximately forty framed works will be displayed on 1100 square feet of gallery walls. Print size is limited to a maximum framed size of 20" x 26". All accepted prints must be professionally framed, wired, and ready for hanging with neutral matting and acrylic/plexi-glass only. Entry fee is $35. The exhibition runs May 18 – July 1, 2023, with an opening reception on May 18 from 5:30 – 8:00pm. Gallery hours are Tuesday–Friday 10am–4pm and Saturdays 12pm–4pm.
All prints will be for sale, with AAWR taking a 40% commission on works sold. Awards, sponsored by The Print Club of Cleveland, include Best in Show ($500), 2nd Place ($250), 3rd Place ($100), and Honorable Mention ($50), judged by Emily J. Peters, Curator of Prints and Drawings at The Cleveland Museum of Art. Notification of acceptance is February 27, 2023. Work receiving dates are April 17–29, 2023. Pick-up dates for in-person retrieval are July 5–15, 2023; shipped works will be returned the week of July 17–22, 2023. Payment for sold prints will be made to artists within 30 days after the exhibition closes. AAWR will insure all works while on premises but is not liable for damage or loss during shipping.
