About This Call
Artist Trust Fellowships are designed to recognize artistic achievement, dedication to an artistic discipline and potential for further professional development. Fellowships are merit-based and not project grants. In 2015, 14 artists working in Emerging Fields/Cross-Disciplinary, Performing, Folk/Traditional and Visual Arts will receive $7,500 each. In addition to these 14 artists, Artist Trust has partnered with the Millay Colony for the Arts to award one artist each in the Emerging Fields/Cross-Disciplinary and Visual Arts with a one-month residency at The Millay Colony with $1,000 stipends.
The 2015 Fellowships are open to generative artists residing in Washington State working in the disciplines of Emerging Fields/Cross-Disciplinary, Performing, Traditional/Folk and Visual Arts. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and Washington State residents at the time of application. Applicants may not be recipients of AT Fellowships from 2008–2014, recipients of two prior AT Fellowships, previous recipients of the James W. Ray Distinguished Artist or Arts Innovator Awards, recipients of more than one AT grant per calendar year, graduate or undergraduate matriculated students enrolled in any degree program at the deadline date, or current AT staff, Board of Trustees, honorary committee, consultants, contractors, current AT Fellowship panelists or their immediate family.
Fellowship recipients are required to present a Meet the Artist (MTA) event outside of their geographic area of residence or to a community that would not ordinarily have access to their work within Washington State. Artists selected for The Millay Colony residency will receive a private bedroom and studio, all meals, and access to resources including libraries, dark room, music room and meadows adjacent to the Harvey Mountain State Forest. Panelists review applications based on subjective judgment of artistic excellence, the professional background of the artist, and evidence of continuing dedication to artistic discipline. The application deadline is 10:59pm PST on Tuesday, January 20, 2015.
