About This Call

Artist Trust Fellowships are awarded in two-year cycles. The 2012 Fellowships are open to generative artists residing in Washington State working in the disciplines of Craft, Literary Arts, Media Arts, and Music Arts. Generative artists are defined as the originators of works of art. Recipients of Fellowships from Artist Trust between 2004–2011 are not eligible to apply in 2012.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and Washington State residents at the time of application. Graduate or undergraduate matriculated students enrolled in any degree program at the deadline date are not eligible. Current Board members, Honorary Committee members, staff, consultants, Fellowship panelists, or their immediate family members may not apply. Only one application per artist will be accepted. Applicants should apply to the category that best describes their work: Craft (Ceramics, Glass, Fiber Arts, Furniture, Jewelry Arts, Metal, Paper, Stone, Wood, Book Arts); Media (Film, Video, Animation, Immersive Audio & Video works, Web Serials, Web-based Art, Screenplays, Teleplays); Music (Music Composition, Generative Arrangement, Improvisational Composition); or Literature (Creative Non-Fiction, Experimental Works, Fiction, Graphic Novels, Web Serials, Poetry).

Work sample requirements: Literary category applicants do not need to submit visual work samples. All other applicants must submit up to 10 images and/or up to 3 audio files and/or up to 3 video files (maximum 13 total samples). All applicants must submit applications online by 11:59 p.m. MST on February 26, 2012. Fellowship recipients must develop and arrange a Meet the Artist event to be approved by Artist Trust, presented outside their geographic area of residence or to a community without ordinary access to their work, within Washington State. Recipients must submit a final report on their Meet the Artist experience. The final $500 payment will be made after completion of the Meet the Artist requirement. Proof of Washington State residency is required upon notification of Fellowship receipt.
