Artist Spotlight 2024

This is a juried art competition open to AAWS members and artists. Members may submit up to 20 artworks. Entry fees are $50 per artist for the first 6 artworks, with $5 for each additional artwork up to 20. Each selected artist will exhibit approximately 5-8 pieces of 2-D or 3-D work, depending on the size of the work entered. Awards include First Place ($250), Second Place ($125), and Third Place ($75).

All artworks must be original and created by the artist. Work cannot have been displayed in any previous AAWS exhibit at the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts that lasted at least one month. 2-D artwork may not exceed 50 inches horizontally (including frame) or 50 pounds in weight. 3-D artwork must fit through a standard door, may not weigh more than 100 pounds, and may not exceed 8 feet in any dimension. All work must be able to hang or sit safely in the gallery. 2-D works must be professionally framed with wire attachment and ready to hang (no alligator hangers). Canvases must be framed or gallery wrapped with no visible staples or unpainted canvas. Canvases with wet paint will not be accepted. Works on paper must be protected by glass or Plexiglas. Printed reproductions are not accepted, but hand-pulled prints, original digital prints, and photographs are acceptable.

Submit high-quality JPEG image files at least 1500 pixels on the longest edge with a maximum file size of 30 MB. Crop images to show only the artwork without matting, frames, or background. Ensure images are oriented correctly. Entry deadline is October 21, 2024. Entry fees are non-refundable and must be submitted and paid by the deadline.
