Artist Roster RFQ - City of Bradenton Public Art

The City of Bradenton Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) and its Public Art Advisory Board (PAAB) are seeking artists and artist teams to place on an artist roster for murals, sculpture, and other media for public art projects in the Bradenton CRA Districts. The CRA recently announced a public art grant program that allows property owners within the CRA Districts to apply for matching grants to place art on private property accessible to the general public. This call is for artists from the coastal counties of Manatee, Sarasota, Pinellas, and Hillsborough. Understanding of the public process and/or experience with other public entities or public art programs is preferred but not mandatory.

Project opportunities include painted and printed murals (artists should provide square foot costs; all murals must include anti-graffiti coating), signal box wraps (designs on all five sides superimposed on vinyl), and other works such as sculptures, 3-D installations, lighting, augmented reality, and other technological advances in public art. Durability in outdoor settings will be considered.

Applications must be submitted via CaFÉ by May 12, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MT and must include: name and contact information; artist statement (up to one page); resume (up to two pages); at least three professional references with telephone numbers and email addresses; 3-5 digital images of relevant artwork and up to one video; and optional support materials (up to two selections). If selected, qualified artists will be added to the City of Bradenton CRA Artist Roster, be recommended to create artwork for public spaces, design and propose artworks for PAAB approval, work within fixed budgets and timelines, present to the public and PAAB, travel as needed, register as a City of Bradenton approved vendor, and adhere to state/local requirements including contractor licenses, insurance, and permitting. Accepted roster artists will be notified by May 31, 2024. The CRA Public Art Grant matches up to $20,000 for art on private property; budgets for public property will be determined as needed. The budget must cover all design, fabrication, and installation costs including materials, transportation, licenses, insurance, sales tax, studio space, and all other expenses.
