About This Call
Khawam Gallery specializes in contemporary European, American, Latin American, and Middle Eastern art. The gallery is professionally operated with a full-time curator and director and is seeking to expand its artist roster for a cooperative gallery program located in East Hanover, NJ in Morris County. The gallery offers curated exhibitions and solo shows at the gallery and other venues, accepting applications in painting, sculpture, and photography in all media.
The first group curated exhibit is free to selected artists with an opening reception on May 15, 2025, and offers an opportunity to be represented by the gallery. Unlike other cooperative galleries, artists do not need to handle marketing or PR; the gallery's experienced professionals manage day-to-day marketing, advertising, email campaigns, and social media promotion. Benefits of becoming a gallery artist are optional and based on two levels: Full Artist Representation includes one solo show and one curated group exhibition per year ($1,000 annual marketing fee), artist profile page, and professional promotion; Associate Artist Representation includes two curated group exhibitions per year ($500 annual marketing fee), artist profile page, and professional promotion. The gallery has participated in national art fairs since 2017 and encourages optional artist participation in fairs such as Context Art Miami, Untitled Miami Beach, Art Palm Beach + Contemporary, LA Art Show, NADA NYC, The Armory Show, and NYC.
Applicants must be US-based visual artists submitting 5 recent images of work (painting, sculpture, or photography in all media). The application requires an artist statement (1000 characters), biography (1000 characters), resume (no more than 2 pages), and optionally one video link. Image descriptions should include artist name, title, year, media, dimensions, and artwork description. Entry fee is $35. The jury period is April 7-11, 2025, and the exhibition runs May 15-June 14, 2025. The gallery is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion and encourages all emerging and established artists to apply. Curators evaluate artistic excellence, evidence of commitment through exhibition history and public engagement, and willingness to participate in gallery community and programming.
