About This Call
A.I.R. Studio Paducah is an artist-in-residence studio and efficiency apartment located in the Lower Town Arts District in Paducah, Kentucky. Over 100 artists from North America have participated in short or long stays (2 weeks to 3 months) since 2004. The residency offers time and private space for independent work, fresh inspiration, contemplation, and experimentation. Residents may exhibit their work, conduct a workshop, or hold an open studio event.
The facility combines a light-saturated studio with a storefront gallery and furnished efficiency apartment. The studio features high ceilings, large walls, skylights, worktables, shelving, utility sink, and rear dock. A writing nook with desk, ergonomic chair, and futon is available for writers and composers. The living space includes a sleeping area, complete kitchen, small dining area, bathroom with shower, and appliances (electric range, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, washer/dryer). Linens, cookware, coffee maker, and tableware are provided. Free high-speed wifi is available. The grounds include a side patio and sculpture garden. The front entrance is wheelchair accessible.
A.I.R. welcomes self-motivated, focused artists age 21 and above working in visual arts, photography, architecture, literary arts, improvisational movement, choreography, and composing. Collaborative pairs and couples are welcome. The residency fee is $550 per two-week period and $875 per month, utilities included. The application fee is $25, and a $100 security deposit is required at the start of the residency. Food, supplies, travel, and local transportation costs are the responsibility of the resident. Smoking, candles, and firearms are prohibited. 2018 residencies are available February-March, August, and November-December, with stays ranging from 2 weeks to 3 months. Applicants will be notified of their application status two weeks after receipt. Submit applications through the CaFE website with required work samples (10 images, up to 2 audio files, and up to 2 video files).
