About This Call
The City of Pompano Beach will commission a mosaic artist for the design and installation of a mosaic mural located in Artists Alley on an exterior wall at 135 NE 1st Ave., Pompano Beach, Florida. The mural location is approximately 41" x 10'. The mosaic mural should be abstract in nature and must include a frame. The design should have a strong presence, stand up to local weather, be amenable to ongoing maintenance, and not include logos. The Public Art Committee plans on installing two murals in 2019 in Artists Alley, continuing to beautify the alleyway and bringing the total amount of murals in this area to six.
The selected artist will receive $4,000, which includes all taxes, insurance, fees, materials, and equipment needed to complete the mural. The Public Art Program Manager will review and inspect the design via photographs or in person as the artwork is being fabricated and will also inspect the installation in person during installation. The selected artist will have 3 months to complete the mosaic mural.
Applicants must submit 3-5 work samples. Eligibility is limited to local artists. The deadline for submissions is June 27, 2019. The Public Art Committee will select the final artist on July 18, 2019, with City Commission approval expected in September 2019.
